Deb Murphy – Chief Executive Officer, MPA, JD

Deb is responsible for the overall management of the association including the development and implementation of its’ strategic vision, supporting programs and alignment of staff and financial resources.  She works to identify opportunities, threats, interests, needs and concerns of members and develops and directs the political advocacy agenda on behalf of members. Deb works in concert with the association’s governing body to establish and frame the association’s strategic direction and works to ensure the board is informed of relevant environmental trends and pressures to enhance sense-making and the positioning of members for success in this dynamic health care field. Deb staffs the Executive Committee, the CCRC Cabinet and co-leads the Workforce Solutions Council.

Laura Hofmann, MSN, RN – Director of Cinical and Nursing Facility Regulatory Services

Laura brings her over 20 years of registered nursing practice in skilled nursing facilities to influence policy on Federal & State clinical practices supporting resident health outcomes in both skilled nursing facilities and assisted living.  She has expertise in both federal 5 Star and state quality measures and will inform and assist members to identify areas of clinical focus for improved outcomes and reduced hospitalizations.  Laura will assist members to improve assessment and documentation requirements using the MDS or CARES assisted living tools.  She will also monitor and report survey trends for SNF and AL and act as intermediary between members and the state quality oversight agency to understand and clarify changes in regulatory expectations, including the new federal Requirements of Participation.  Laura will work to assist members to also understand the changing health care environment and explore opportunities to develop partnerships with health plans and hospital systems.  She is keenly interested in working on behalf of LeadingAge Washington’s members to begin to address and identify solutions to the workforce challenges we face in long term supports and services.

LeighBeth Merrick – Director of Senior Living and Community Services

LeighBeth provides health policy leadership on assisted living, housing and adult day matters impacting members.  In this capacity, she works with various federal and state policy and regulatory decision-makers and is an important member of the Association’s advocacy team both here and in Washington DC.  She works with members assessing and identifying their legislative and regulatory needs, analyzes and communicates legislative and regulatory initiatives, and contributes to our legislative news publication, This Week in Olympia. She builds collaborative relationships among housing communities and service providers to stimulate partnership opportunities and is actively engaged in working with multiple organizations, including our state agencies, to find innovative solutions to advance healthy aging for near poor and poor individuals.  She works to expand the voice of other housing organizations to ensure senior housing needs are not forgotten and is a strong proponent of ending senior homelessness.  LeighBeth identifies training opportunities on behalf our members in support of their service excellence.  LeighBeth staffs the Adult Day Cabinet, the Assisted Living Cabinet, and the Housing Cabinet and co-leads the Population Health Management Council.

Pat Sylvia – Director of Education and Member Development

Pat is responsible for conference and event planning and other critical trainings needed to support and advance the work of members throughout the year.  She prepares member education-related communication materials, develops promotional materials for the association, manages our website content, and promotes our members and provider partners using social media.  She supports the shared learning experiences of our member professional networks which is critical to their success at all service levels within member communities.  Pat delivers a number of top quality Leadership Management programs for assisted living administrators and staff and for nursing leaders.  She also organizes, promotes and delivers our highly successful Leadership Institute program designed to develop our ‘up and coming’ leaders of tomorrow.  She has been an active participant in the creation of “age-friendly” communities in our state.  Pat staffs the Education Planning Advisory Group, the Member Recognition Advisory Group and supports all Professional Networks.

Cassi Meritt – Member Development Coordinator

Cassi assists the Director of Member Development in the production of conferences and training sessions throughout the year and manages our conference and education program registration database.  She creates and prepares education program packets and brochures and provides onsite coordination and support for all events and training provided by the Association.  She also maintains and updates our current membership database while simultaneously working with LeadingAge national to convert our database to a common and integrated program.  Cassi develops and produces the Association’s marketing materials and produces other member resources such as the annual membership directory.  Importantly, Cassi is our key connector with our business partners.

Angie Napier – Office Manager

Angie provides invaluable support to the operations and needs of the Association and works closely with all staff and provides necessary support.  Angie maintains the Association’s critical documents such as our Bylaws and Board Policies, Association Leadership and Handbook, and organizational structure.  She works closely with the Chief Executive Officer and provides scheduling and other support.  Angie also supports the accounting functions within the Association, and prepares the accounts payable and assists with the Group Retrospective Payment Program.  She collects stories and regulatory and legislative news and publishes all newsletters to members and other stakeholders.  Angie organizes Legislative Rally Day and works directly with legislative assistants and our member communities to ensure access to policy-makers when advocating on behalf of seniors.  She also serves as administrative support to the Board of Directors and assists members with questions they may have regarding Association activities.  Angie builds positive relationships with members through direct daily dialogue and support at LeadingAge Washington events.
