This course will provide you with a roadmap to navigate the process of End-of-Life from diagnosis through death and beyond. Helping our residents and their families plan for their time where they labor through death can be a gift. We will spotlight preparation for death, actual death and post-death preparations. The Goal: A comfortable body, a peaceful passage, and a triumphant soul.
Objectives:
- Identify the similarities between birth and death
- State the differences between the common death trajectories
- Define trauma-informed care as it relates to the end of life
- Explain the differences between palliative and hospice care
- Describe one end of life tradition or cultural/spiritual practice
- Understand the importance of pain management at the end of life
- Educate others about the natural progression with food and water at end of life
- List 3 things that can be done to support grief and loss in the workplace
